Named in honour of the legendary Irish Antarctic explorer Tom Crean, the Crean Tassel Hat celebrates resilience, craftsmanship and the enduring warmth of natural wool.
Designed to accompany life's everyday adventures, this contemporary interpretation of a traditional watch cap combines timeless styling with exceptional comfort. Knitted using two ends of Donegal Soft Merino, the result is a beautifully soft, lofty fabric that offers outstanding warmth while remaining naturally breathable and lightweight.
Each hat is individually knitted by Berni Raeside Bell on a vintage Dubied hand-flat knitting machine before being carefully hand finished in her Nottingham studio. The distinctive tassel detail offers a subtle nod to traditional maritime knitwear, while the relaxed silhouette creates a modern, versatile fit suitable for everyday wear.
Crafted from premium Donegal yarn, every hat carries the character and texture that make Irish wool so distinctive. Flecks of colour running through the yarn reflect the rugged beauty of the Irish landscape that inspired the Endure Collection.

Care
Wool is naturally self-cleaning, odour resistant and requires very little washing.
When needed:
- Hand wash cool using a specialist wool detergent.
- Gently reshape whilst damp.
- Dry flat away from direct heat.
- Do not tumble dry.

Every Crean Tassel Hat is individually knitted and hand finished by Berni Raeside Bell using traditional knitting techniques and premium Irish yarns. Small batch production allows every hat to receive the attention to detail that defines the DETTA collection.
