Galánta is the Irish word for elegant, graceful and refined.
The first in our signature 'RAESIDE' collection, this carefully designed piece celebrates the beauty of Irish wool, traditional craftsmanship and slow making. Each piece is individually knitted by Berni on a vintage Dubied machine and finished by hand, combining heritage techniques with contemporary design.
Hand-knitted on a vintage Dubied knitting machine in our studio, the Galánta Vest is a contemporary interpretation of traditional Irish knitwear.
Knitted using authentic Donegal wool, cashmere and silk mix, its relaxed silhouette is designed to be worn in multiple ways — draped off one shoulder, worn asymmetrically, layered over dresses, or styled simply with denim and tailoring.
The textured vertical structure draws inspiration from the rugged landscapes of Ireland's Atlantic coast, while the flecked Donegal yarn reflects the colours of stone walls, mountains and shoreline. Each garment is individually knitted and finished by hand, making every piece subtly unique.
Created in small batches using traditional knitwear techniques, the Galánta Vest embodies the values at the heart of Detta Knitwear: longevity, craftsmanship and thoughtful design.

Materials
Crafted from premium cashmere, merino and silk spun yarn, renowned for its softness, warmth and distinctive flecked appearance.
The yarn is spun in Donegal using traditional methods before being knitted individually by Berni Raeside-Bell in her studio. As natural fibres wool, cashmere and silk are renewable, biodegradable and exceptionally durable, making it a thoughtful choice for a conscious wardrobe.
